Gypsyjazzacademy.com is pleased to announce that Denis Chang will be working for us to transcribe the chord changes and improvised solos from The Gypsy Jazz Guitar style of Lollo Meier.
He is also transcribing and analyzing some of the follow-up lessons made by Lollo in response to questions from our academy subscribers.
Denis is one of the busiest transcribers and educators in the genre. Many will know him from his successful DVD projects working alongside guitar maestros Stochelo Rosenberg and Wawau Adler.
Chang's formative years were spent alongside the greatest Jazz Manouche guitarists such as Fapy Lafertin, Ritary Gaguenetti, Paulus Schafer, RindoWinterstein and Emmanuel Kassimo to name just these few. He is a highly regarded teacher and gives masterclasses in all aspects of gypsy jazz at festivals and concerts across the globe.
Denis is familiar with Lollo's music, having organised concerts with the Dutch guitarist in 2006 and in 2008.
Denis said of his work for gypsyjazzacademy.com: "I am looking forward to seeing this project expand! When I was learning to play the Django style, there was no information available.
"I had to figure everything out on my own and I had to travel frequently to Europe to learn from the masters. Thanks to this site, I'm hoping that people won't have to go to as much trouble to learn this music!"
Denis is currently working on an exciting new project for release at www.denischang.com in the New Year.

Here is a link to a transcription Denis did of Lollo's chords to Lady Be Good from the members' lessons.
