Gypsy Jazz academy Welcomes Fapy Lafertin
Gypsyjazzacademy.com is delighted to announce that the legendary guitarist Fapy Lafertin has joined the staff of our online learning academy.
Fapy is a truly world class guitarist, musician and teacher and his expertise has long been sought by disciples of Django Reinhardt’s music across the globe.

His experience and knowledge of the music are second to none, having sparked the Hot Club revival in the 80s with Waso before going on to form a successful solo career.
He has played with jazz greats Charlie Byrd, Scott Hamilton, Al Casey, Benny Waters and Milt Hinton. He has also performed with the legendary Hot Club violinist Stéphane Grappelli.
Fapy told Academy director Dave Rattray that he was looking forward to filming his first lessons for the subscribers in November.
He said: “Over the years I have often been approached to make DVD’s and books but I believe that the features of the academy will enable me to provide better instruction for aspiring jazz guitarists”
He continued: “It is possible to learn from a book but on the site subscribers can upload a clip of them playing for me to appraise and I can give my advice and refer them to appropriate lessons to make a course of study from lessons filmed either by me or by Lollo Meier.”
Fapy added: “I also will be available at times to answer questions from members in the site forums.”
He joked: “There will also be a bit of learning for me too as I have to learn some new computer skills!”
Academy teacher Lollo Meier said that he is looking forward to working alongside Fapy.
He said: “I think that this is a really great thing for the academy and for guitar players across the world.
“Fapy and I are currently working on a new album project together and we have a similar approach to Django’s music.”
Academy director Susanne Janssen said: “We are filming with Fapy in November and his lessons will be online for our students in time for Christmas.
“Fapy is a highly respected player and teacher and we are proud that we will be able to offer his expertise to our subscribers...and for only a fraction of the price of taking private masterclasses.”
Fapy added: “I hope to share my knowledge and passion for this music with students from across the world.”
“I am looking forward to filming my first lessons and to teaching academy subscribers from across the world...”
